New chapter

What a great editing day it's been today! While waiting in the city for my son to do some volunteer work at the film festival office, I sat at a coffee shop and wrote a partial chapter to replace the one I hated. I am really happy with this addition as, I believe, it helps to complete an element of tension for one of my protagonists that wasn't clearly set out previously.

Gotta get back to it, but thought I'd share.

Go you! I'm really glad to hear that it's going well. It seems that often by the time a debut book is finished, the author has learned so much that their earlier chapters irk them. I've certainly found that myself. I'm really glad to hear you're having so much success with yours. Here's to more days like this!

I've discovered that I edit better on hard copy. It allows me to see various versions at the same time. Not looking forward to entering all the changes in later though! :-)

That does sound like a fair bit of work! There are a number of knowledgeable people (like Anne Mini, for one) who advise editing in hard copy. That's not something I'm prone to do, though, because I'm just so used to the computer screen. Whatever works, right? Glad you've found your best method.

That's because I'm older than you... the paper-based generation! And yes, I do feel guilty about killing all those trees.
